Ode to an Infamous Lady
Source |
She lies in beauty,
She contemplates the stars,
Murmuring the hymns of life.
She contemplates herself in the water,
Stale and still,
No movement.
She spits on the image,
She now abhors her,
A scorned lady.
...
She thinks of the demons, that
Touched her everywhere,
Demeaned, defamed and threw her on the ground.
She rose up, hollow within,
Mere a mass of flesh and bone,
Dragged her legs all around,
And, came out.
...
She sits beside the small tarn,
And, tries to regain her lost image,
She stirs the water persistently.
But nothing turns up.
She knows she has lost everything,
Her respect, her self-esteem,
But she lives like a mere body,
The corpse of a pure soul.
Awesome Sayantini...

Good one Bud !
Thats the truth which hurts, the society and the mindset should change, if only the world was much better place to live in!
ReplyDelete'She knows she has lost everything,
Her respect, her self-esteem,
But she lives like a mere body,
The corpse of a pure soul.' -- very true but sad.
Feelings of a guilty is nicely expressed. Like this line:'The corpse of a pure soul'

ReplyDeleteI love this poem, especially the last two lines. You well captured these common feelings --- being ripped apart by a demon, a person, an addiction, what have you. And then having to rebuild yourself. Well done. I much enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I LOVE your blog. It's gorgeous and inviting.
ReplyDelete"The corpse of a pure soul" says it all. I especially love "she lies in beauty, she contemplates the stars"........I hope the vision of their untouched beauty will restore to her her own worth and beauty. Lovely write.
ReplyDeletesometimes the truth is so ugly you have to spit at the image..profound.

ReplyDeleteThis is dark, unique, and painful to read... yet there is a strange beauty in its gritty truth.
ReplyDeleteToo many women are ravaged by life... and yet, I have hope that she will find help and regain her sense of herself. That final line, "The corpse of a pure soul," tells me she was truly used...
