#BringBackTheTouch: Re-United by Love

Aakash found his eyes damp when he finally looked up at the clock on the hospital wall, 3 hours were already passed. The tick-tock of the clock was the only thing that made sure that time was not paused. He looked at the glass wall. It was all blurred but some space was left through which Aakash’s eyes could see the bed where his beloved, Sonali lied down. It has been 3 hours since the accident took place and almost snatched the life of Sonali.

Aakash and Sonali have been married for almost three years. Like any usual couple, they were very happy in the first six months, even the first year was passed very well. But, the next year, when Aakash was transferred to another state from office, things went bad. He couldn’t give her enough time. The only holiday he could manage once in every month failed to do any help to fill up the vacuum between the two. Aakash felt a void that was unbearable. Sonali felt the same. Her only wish to stay with her love, her husband seemed to be a fantasy. Months passed, Aakash was so busy with his work that he hardly got time to think about the distance and the void. It isn’t that his love for her had died; it’s only that he lost his war with time.

Sonali, alone and depressed, decided to do something to refurbish their relationship. Firstly, she thought of a baby, but the next moment she shrugged the thought off. She didn’t want to take the help of a baby to fix the broken bridge between the two grown-ups. She then decided to wait for Aakash’s next home-coming.

Finally, the day came. Sonali cancelled all her works, asked her maid to take a break for that day, arranged some flowers, revamped their bed as it was decorated on their wedding night, ordered a cake. She wanted to surprise Aakash by taking him back to the time they started their journey as a couple. She was all excited. Aakash had called; he was on his way to home. Suddenly, Sonali’s phone rang, it was from the bakery. The cake was ready, but unfortunately, Sonali had to go to the bakery to bring the cake.

Aakash was at the main gate when his phone rang. For a second his head was ringing and nothing could reach his ears. Sonali had met with an accident- it’s all the hospital authorities had to say. In no time he was there at the hospital. Some formalities had delayed the operation. It took almost two and a half hour for the operation to be done. Sonali was shifted to the cabin. Just a few moment’s wait and the doctors would call him to meet his wife.

…Aakash found his eyes damp when he finally looked up at the clock on the hospital wall, 3 hours were already passed. The tick-tock of the clock was the only thing that made sure that time was not paused. He looked at the glass wall. It was all blurred but some space was left through which Aakash’s eyes could see the bed where his beloved, Sonali lied down…

Finally, he was beside Sonali, totally nervous and scared of the wounds and blood still visible through the bandages. Sonali’s body was all covered, only the head and both the hands were out. Aakash couldn’t resist the urge to touch her hands and feel the warmth. He touched the finger, and then slowly the arm and then he gently kissed her forehead dropping of pearl of tear on her cheek. He felt what he was lacking all these years, the touch! Sonali’s eyes blinked, and then opened halfway. Seeing her lips tremble, Aakash tried to hear what she wanted to say. In his ears Sonali murmured- “I love you, Aakash- more than my life.” Aakash couldn’t withstand the flood of tears that kept lumping in his chest for three hours. He wanted to tell her a thousand words.

In this busy life, sometimes, we forget a lot of important things. It is not always about show-off or PDAs, sometimes our beloveds want a gentle touch that works as a reminder to the love. Don’t take love for granted, it has the magic to turn anything to gold- like an elixir. A touch of love can bring back the lost smiles- as a key to your most cherished chest, full of happiness.
