Wishes that Got Life
Source |
They slept soundly on the
floor,
On the old rags and torn
mattresses,
Cold and coiled, shuddering
in nippiness.
Their sore feet, swelled
like a bee-hive,
And parched skin, rough and
patchy.
They slept with anonymous
happiness,
Baffling smile and
mysterious tranquility.
The small streaks of the
first light came,
Through the countless holes
on the roof.
And, made them sleep with
warmth.
They were all small, merely eight or ten summers
old.
They worked in a brick
factory, from light to dark,
With no respite, no peaceful
breath.
They toiled and never griped,
They sweated with intact
delight.
Winter had arrived and, so
Had come blissful Christmas to
the town.
The children never knew
Of that white-bearded old
man,
But they wished for one to
be,
To wipe away their tears.
They wanted their parents,
To stop them from doing the
arduous work,
To force them to go to
school.
They wanted to carry
school-bags,
Instead of piles of clay blocks.
They wanted to play on green
grass,
Instead of mud and puddle.
They wanted to be like
those,
Who went to school beside
the road.
But they knew it’s
unfeasible to
Turn those dreams into
reality.
But they still dreamt of the fairy tale,
but they still dreamt of the magic.
The old man was observing
them,
Their minute moves and
finest curves of smile,
He walked in to the room and
took their tears in his fingertips
And kissed it with utmost
warmth
And turned them into magical
luminosity, and,
All their wishes were alive.
Note: I don't have words to apologize, friends. I even don't want to give any excuse for my shameful inactivity. I don't know how to explain this, laziness or what I thought it to be-Writer's Block. I even don't want to know. I just want to keep running on the track again, heading towards the possibilities that I might achieve by working hard again. I don't assure you but wish to come back to action again and gift you some posts worth reading. I wish you having a good time through this Holiday season. May God bless you all and shower all the happiness on you. Merry Christmas.
